Rights & Democracy works in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in the following priority countries: Morocco, Jordan, and the Palestinian Territories. It is also developing programming in Mauritania. Its MENA programme continues to build on existing projects and to develop new initiatives with local partners—whether civil society or reforming elements of the state—with the aim of deepening democratic development and entrenching human rights. It works towards a

more open political process, a culture of tolerance and respect for human rights. It supports marginalized youth, strengthens civil society participation, and helps ensure access to legal aid services.
